This outpatient treatment can relieve or eliminate angina. Angina is caused when your heart is not receiving enough blood or oxygen.

The body's answer to not receiving enough oxygen and blood is to form tiny branches of blood vessels called "collateral circulation." These blood vessels allow blood to flow around the blocked arteries.

EECP may stimulate the opening of collateral blood vessels, and allow your blood a way around the blocked arteries. EECP takes place outside of your body and does not require surgery.
